If you find your iPad has a cracked screen please bring it to the Technology Department as soon as you can. We will make sure that your device is backed up to the correct SYNC station and will replace the device.
A single hairline crack could be due to manufacturing defect and could be "repaired" for free.
Spidering of the front glass or missing pieces of glass can be a safety hazard and need to be handled as such.
The school will allow some cracks to be present as long as they do not interfere with the use of the device. In some cases a screen protector will keep the glass from fracturing more and safe for fingers.
In accordance to the contract of iPad use, any damage to the iPad will be charged to the family if we find negligence in care of the iPad.
It should be known that Apple Inc does not actually repair iPads when brought in for service. Apple takes the broken device into their stock and reconditions it for another person. Apple will replace the device with a previously reconditioned device so that the turn around it as quick as possible. Most repairs result in a $299 fee.
Sacramento Country Day School uses Apple as the repair facility due to leasing restrictions we have on the devices.
